FWRD® - Joint Comfort in Motion

FWRD® is a mangosteen peel extract standardised in xanthones, designed to support healthy joint comfort and cartilage protection. Supported with a mechanistic study and a clinical trial. 200 mg/day.

FWRD® - Key features

  • Mangosteen peel extract standardised in α and ɣ-mangostins
  • Derived from fruit pericarp, a co‑product of mangosteen juice manufacturing
  • Fully characterised polyphenol and metabolite profile
  • Promotes healthy joint comfort
  • Effects on knee stiffness and physical function observed after 2 weeks
  • Supports the modulation of cartilage degradation factors

Science supporting FWRD®

FWRD® is clinically studied to support joint comfort and cartilage‑related physiological processes. Its mode of action is supported by ex vivo data, indicating modulation of inflammatory and cartilage turnover mechanisms. Clinical findings from a randomised, double‑blind, placebo‑controlled study report statistically significant changes in joint discomfort, knee stiffness and joint‑related function.

Characterisation

FWRD® is a mangosteen peel extract standardised in xanthones. Sourced from Thailand or Malaysia, FWRD® is derived from the fruit pericarp, a co-product of the agro-industry, ensuring maximum raw material valorisation.

Joint discomfort – total score (WOMAC)

Clinical data indicate that FWRD® supplementation is associated with statistically significant changes in overall joint discomfort scores from Day 28, as assessed by the WOMAC total score.
In the supplemented group, a 46% change versus baseline was observed after 28 days, compared with placebo conditions.

Knee stiffness & Physical function

The stiffness subscale reflects how joint stiffness affects daily activities.

  • After 16 days of supplementation, clinically relevant changes in knee stiffness scores were observed, with a 46% change versus baseline in the supplemented group.

The functional subscale evaluates the impact of joint discomfort on everyday movements and activities.

  • After 16 days of supplementation, clinically relevant changes in knee‑related physical function scores were observed, corresponding to a 37% change versus baseline.

Thanks to its low daily dose and stable formulation, FWRD® is well suited for use in capsules, tablets and sachets, enabling brands to develop solutions positioned around joint comfort support, active lifestyles and healthy ageing.

FWRD® is safe

No adverse event linked to FWRD® supplementation has been recorded.
12-week FWRD® supplementation does not affect biological & physiological safety parameters.
